Because we take no position in the market, we are free to do the one thing a trading house never can: show the farm every offer and let it choose.

We don't take a position

We are not a merchant, not a buyer, and not affiliated with any trading house. We have nothing to gain from which way a trade goes.

The farm sees everything

Every bid, side by side, with the market alongside it. No selective disclosure, and no obligation to accept any of it.

Buyers earn their place

Every buyer is vetted, verified and routinely credit checked by our team. That is what makes a committed offer worth something.

How we started

2015

The idea

Schoolfriends Jamie McInnes and Dan Luff, a beef farmer in Hampshire, spot a need for direct farmer-to-farmer trading in the livestock industry.

2015

SellMyLivestock

They launch it to solve that problem. It goes on to become the UK's largest online livestock market.

2016

Graindex

Arable farmer Andrew Huxham joins the founding team to launch an online grain trading platform, connecting farmers with a network of verified buyers.

2023

Hectare Trading

Graindex becomes Hectare Trading: a new digital approach, with localised market insights so farmers can trade with confidence.
